WORLD MARITIME DAY

CELEBRATION OF WORLD MARITIME DAY 2021

SEPTEMBER 30, 2021

Each year the International Maritime Organization (IMO) celebrates World Maritime Day to highlight the many great achievements in the maritime industry as well as to bring focus to relevant issues affecting our marine communities.   This year’s theme is “Seafarers: at the core of shipping’s future”. “The theme was adopted to focus attention on seafarers who are facing unprecedented hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the importance of their vital role as essential workers for global supply chains today and in the future.

The Government of Belize (GOB), Ministry of Public Utilities & Logistics, Belize Coast Guard (BCG), the International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE), and the Belize Port Authority (BPA) join the IMO in supporting the World Maritime Theme – “Seafarers: at the core of shipping’s future”. To mark the occasion, Belize Port Authority and the maritime community have organized a series of events for this week to bring awareness to the theme.
